The Pewaukee Yacht Club (PYC) is a fun and friendly yacht club that enjoys the sport of sailing. Our focus is to provide sailing opportunities and competitive racing to both youth and adults of all levels. The club supports “learn to sail” activities through the Pewaukee Lake Sailing School (PLSS). While the School is separate from the PYC, they operate on the club grounds. The PLSS develops and delivers sailing curriculum for both youth and adults. Instruction can start as young as 6 years old in the Kinder Pram program; and progresses through adult programs. The PLSS has also been very active in developing sailing for our high school and college youth with the 420 sailboats. Learn more about PLSS at www.PLSS.org.
The PYC actively promotes and supports sailboat racing. A full schedule of races is set up each year, through our volunteer, well trained race committees. Competition is held primarily on the weekends; but our members also enjoy weekday Twilight Series. The sailing program is focused on sail boats referred to as “Inland Scows”. Scows are a flat bottom sailboat without a permanent keel. They range from the largest scow, the 6 man A scow at 38 feet long, to the 2 man youth X Boat, which is 16 feet long for youth 16 years old and under. The other sanctioned fleets include C, E, M, MC, and M17. There is also Optimist, Laser and 420 racing. Because of its size, Pewaukee Lake offers one of finest sailing venues in Southeastern Wisconsin. Coupled with the facilities and hospitality that the PYC brings, we regularly host several major regattas each season. Regattas bring sailing competitors together from across the country to race against each other. The PYC has established a national reputation for providing first class racing and unbeatable hospitality that only our spirit of volunteerism can bring.
